City dad backs F2F classes in June

BACOLOD City Councilor Renecito Novero has expressed support for the plan of the Department of Education (DepEd) in conducting face-to-face (F2F) classes in June 2022 amid the ongoing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.Novero, chairperson of the City Council committee on education, said Thursday, June 2, 2022, that it is the right time to reopen the schools for the F2F since the cases Covid-19 continue to decrease.”But we still need to be careful and always follow the minimum health protocols (and) through our efforts in the fight against Covid-19, I believe that we have already recovered,” he said.As of June 1 this year, Bacolod City has a total of 28, 011 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 27, 067 patients already recovered, 56 active cases with 875 deaths.In the same period, the city recorded zero Covid-19 cases.Novero said the Bacolod City Government doubled its effort in the fight Covid-19 and it’s now ready for the F2F classes.For the conduct of F2F classes, he said the schools should continue to implement the health protocols like the wearing of face and observance of social distancing.He said the local Inter-Agency Task Force also required all the students as well as the teachers to avail the Covid-19 vaccines.He added as of May 2022, more than five public and private schools in Bacolod City were already conducting F2F classes.Secretary Leonor Briones earlier said that they are expecting that all schools in the country will hold F2F classes by June amid the Covid-19 pandemic.She said as of May 26, 2022, over 34,000 or 73 percent of public schools are ready for F2F classes.
