Election Monitoring Action Center in NegOcc reactivated

TO ENSURE a safe, peaceful, fair and honest election in Negros Occidental today, May 9, the Joint Provincial Security Coordinating Committee (JPSCC) composed of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), 303rd Infantry Brigade (IB), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Philippine Coast Guard has reactivated the Provincial Election Monitoring Action Center over the weekend.The action center will serve as the central monitoring unit where information relative to the conduct of the elections including security coverage in the province will be addressed, a statement from the 303rd IB said yesterday.It added that the center will validate and counter validate information relative to the elections wherein reports are directly addressed to concerned deputized agencies for proper response.“The successful conduct of the elections does not rely on the Comelec, military and police alone but also in the full participation of the Negrenses in safeguarding the sanctity of the ballots,” 303rd IB commander Brigadier General Innocecio Pasaporte said.For his part, acting Negros Occidental Police Provincial Offoce (Nocppo) Director Colonel Leo Pamittan said that the policemen are already a hundred percent ready to secure the voters in the province.”We are now in the execution phase of our months-long security preparations, we hope that everything will run according to our plans,” Pamittan said.He said that on top of that, their actions are supported by their fervent prayers for a secure, accurate, free and fair elections.Meanwhile, Comelec Provincial Supervisor Roberto Salazar noted that the PNP is now closely monitoring the alleged harassment that is happening in some areas in the province.Among which are the alleged placing of twisted nails or “tumba-tumba” along the roads in Isabela, Pulupandan and Escalante City to cause inconvenience among motorists.But he emphasized that these incidents are not that serious.
