Familiaran, 4 other Grupo Progreso bets take oath

REELECTED Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and four councilors of Grupo Progreso (GP) took oath before Judge Raymond Joseph Javier of Regional Trial Court Branch 52, Bacolod City Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 2022.The councilors included Renecito Novero, Cindy Rojas, Israel Salanga and Em Ang.With 128, 893 votes, Familiaran defeated former councilor Caesar Distrito of Team Asenso with 103,236 votes and independent candidate Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. with 32,033 votes.Familiaran said they are thankful for the people of Bacolod for giving them another chance to serve the city.”This is my third and last term as the vice mayor so I will do my job to serve our constituents,” he said.The Sangguniang Panlungsod is here for any legislative measures needed by the city executive, the vice mayor added.Familiaran noted that before the first session of the new members of the council in July, he will provide a copy of the existing internal rules for them to review.”We are given 90 days to update our existing internal rules,” he said.On May 26, incoming Mayor Alfredo Benitez along with reelected Congressman Greg Gasataya and three councilors-elect of Team Asenso also took oath before Barangay Singcang-Airport Captain Rosinie Distrito at the village’s gymnasium.The councilors who took oath were Jason Villarosa, Vladimir Gonzalez and Simplicia Distrito.The incoming administration will assume their post on June 30, 2022.
