REELECTED Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran is now proposing to the City Council to have a face-to-face (F2F) session at the Bacolod Government Center.“Hopefully, we can now have our F2F session,” he said yesterday, May 16.Familiaran said he already suggested to the City Council to have a F2F session, but majority of them want to continue virtual sessions for safety reasons.“Personally, I want to meet them before the new set of the members of the City Council will assume their post on June 30, 2022,” he added. The City Council’s regular session is held every Wednesday. They started the virtual sessions in August 2020 via Zoom application after Bacolod City recorded a high number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases. Moreover, Familiaran said he will meet with the newly-elected councilors on July 1 this year.“I want to meet them so I can assist them with their needs at their respective offices,” he said.He added that elected councilors are allowed to hire three technical assistant personnel.Meanwhile, Familiaran, who is also a chairman of the Bacolod Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), said it’s the discretion of the incoming administration if the mayor-elect will appoint a new local IATF chairman.“I don’t know with the incoming administration (if he will be retained or not) including the status of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Only the chief executive can decide it. I can work with anybody, but for me, the new elected councilors should also be given responsibilities,” he said. The vice mayor said they will wait for the decision of mayor-elect Alfredo Benitez.*File Photo.
