Government employees join cleanup drive

SEVERAL Bacolod government employees joined the cleanup drive in various areas in Bacolod City over the weekend.Wilfredo Geolongo, head of Task Force Disiplina, on Sunday, June 5, 2022, said his team along with the personnel from the City Legal Office was deployed on Lacson Street for the removal of campaign materials and cleaning the street on Saturday morning.He said on May 10, Mayor Evelio Leoonardia issued Executive Order No. 24 creating a post-election cleanup committee to remove the large number of campaign materials installed by candidates in various areas in the city during the campaign period.He added the cleanup drive activity will be held every Saturday starting June 4, 11, 18 and 25.Geolingo said all the government employees including the job orders were required to join the cleanup drive.“It’s a directive from our mayor to ensure the cleanliness of our city,” Geolingo said.He said some of the employees were deployed in the areas of Burgos Street, Lizares Street, among others.He added the employees were tasked to remove the installed campaign materials including the garbage.The committee is chaired by Leonardia and co-chaired by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran with City Administrator Edward Joseph Cuansing as action officer.The committee members included Acting Secretary to the Mayor Ma. Victoria Parrenas; Engineer Aladino Agbones of City Engineer’s Office; General Services Office head Gilda Lluisma; Ramil Palalon, officer-in-charge of Department of Public Services; Atty. Reuben Sabig of the City Legal Office; and the Public Information Office. (MAP)
