NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, March 21, that there will be a minor rate adjustment during the reopening of Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary on the first week of April.”We would really like to open it. That is our way of bringing normalcy and to be able to spur the economy and promote tourism,” he said. The governor is hoping that with the normalcy from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the operation of the Provincial Government-run facility would be long term already. The mountain resort that served as the provincial quarantine facility at the height of the pandemic reopened in December 2021.It was closed anew in January 2022 when Covid-19 cases again increased. The facility was also affected by Typhoon Odette.Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said the employees have been doing the repairs of the damage, especially to some amenities, brought about by the typhoon.”Repair is ongoing and power has been restored and road lights have been installed,” he added.
