NOW that the election is over, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Negros Occidental Provincial Supervisor lawyer Roberto Salazar has reminded all candidates in the province to file their respective Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce).”Both the winners and losers should file their Soce and attachments 30 days after the conduct of the elections,” Salazar stressed.Failure to file Soce could be a merit for disqualification of candidates from future elections.Salazar said the Provincial Board of Canvassers had already adjourned on May 11, 2022 after the canvass of all election returns in the province had all been tallied.The Comelec official said he would personally submit the election results for the national positions of president, vice president, senators and party-lists to the National Board of Canvassers at the Comelec Central Office in Metro Manila.Meanwhile, Salazar assured that the releasing of the poll workers’ compensations or honoraria will be made within 15 days after the conclusion of the elections.“We will follow the Election Reform Service Act which mandates the payment of poll workers for the services rendered during election day,” Salazar said, adding that the funds are already with the election officers.Some of the funds, he said, are with him because there are election officers who are unbonded, have unliquidated cash advances and disallowances prior to the elections.”Funds have already been released in some towns and cities and transferred to the election officers,” Salazar added.Under Comelec rules, the election chairperson will receive P10,000 less tax while the poll clerk and third member will receive P9,000 less tax, which is 20 percent,” he added.
