COMMANDER Edgar Ybañez of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Western Visayas said Friday, October 29, 2021, that there will be no reshuffling of personnel in Negros Occidental and other provinces in the region.

“Unless they did something wrong,” he said.

Ybañez said his focus as the new PCG head in the region is to intensify their law enforcement function especially on the campaign against illegal fishing.

He also bared his plan of putting up additional coast guard station in Negros Occidental before the end of the year.

As of now, he said he is just waiting for a go signal from the PCG higher office.

Ybañez met with PCG-Negros Occidental commander Ludovico Librilla Jr. and other substation commanders in the province yesterday to discuss his plans.

Ybañez was installed as the new head of the PCG in the region on October 5 replacing Hostillo Arturo Cornellio, who was transferred to the National Capital Region.

Meanwhile, the PCG in the entire region will be on full alert status in the anticipation of the influx of passengers who will be going home to their respective hometowns for Undas.

The top official of the PCG in the region reminded the travelers that despite the ease in travel restrictions, they should still abide by the minimum health protocols.
