SAN Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo said Sunday, June 6, 2022, that a contractor is eyeing a P1-billion Sports Complex for the locality under a public-private partnership venture.Gustilo said the complex will be bigger and more modern than the Panaad Stadium owned by the Provincial Government, which is located in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.He said the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has already informed him of the loan approval for the project.Gustilo, who did not name yet the contractor, added that this will be a long-term project that he expects to be finished within his term of office.”The contractor will take care of the construction of the Sports Stadium while the city government will provide for the land, (which is a) five-hectare site,” the mayor noted.Meanwhile, Gustilo said that San Carlos City will soon be the only locality all over Negros Island to have a seven-story city hall annex building. With the completion of the Annex Building, the city hall will become a one-stop shop where all government offices both under the city and national government agencies will be located. He said this will be a different set-up from the current one where government offices are located outside the city hall.Aside from these projects, other plans for the city include the concreting of roads worth P100 million.“These are farm-to-market roads in barangays Codcod, Nataban, Bulwangan, Quezon and Guadalupe,” Gustilo said. The farm-to-market road construction is funded under the End Local Communist Armed Conflict project of the government in areas where there is a presence of the New People’s Army.
