Passenger kills jeepney driver in Bago; manhunt for carpenter’s killer launched

A JEEPNEY driver died on the spot after his passenger shot him in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental past 7 a.m. Sunday, April 3.Killed was Jerry Paciolan, 56, of Purok Para I in the barangay, who sustained gunshot wounds on his head, the police said.Lieutenant Dan Oliver Salazar, deputy chief of Bago City Police Station, said they are looking into the possibility that the killing of Paciolan had something to do with his business.Aside from being a driver, Paciolan was also into rice trading, said Salazar, adding that they already sought the help of the passengers who witnessed the shooting.Salazar noted that a facial sketch of the killer will be made for his immediate arrest.Two fired cartridges and a fired bullet of .45 caliber pistol were recovered from Paciolan’s jeepney.Meanwhile, Bacolod City Police Station 7 launched a manhunt operation to arrest the person behind the killing of a carpenter at Abada Escay Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre on Sunday, April 3.Captain Elmer Bonilla, commander of Police Station 7, said they were informed that the suspect, Darryl Dasa, is still in the city.Dasa was the suspect in the killing of his neighbor, Edgar John Mendoza, 36, who was doing carpentry works when shot.Bonilla said a grudge could have triggered the crime, adding that Dasa is considered armed and dangerous.Dasa was a former detainee for the crime of robbery and theft, he said.Police Station 3 personnel are also yet to identify the person who shot to death Yuki Castro, 31, of Purok Marapara in Barangay Bata, while he was buying cigarettes at Purok Pine Tree in the village past 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2.Captain Armilyn Vargas, commander of Police Station 3, said they already have a witness that could lead them to identify the killer.Investigation showed that Castro’s two female companions only heard gunshots and later saw him with a wound on his right chest while lying on the ground.But they said they did not see the gunman.Vargas said they are eyeing grudges as possible motive in the killing of the victim.
