THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has reported that 11 more barangays in Western Visayas, four of which are in Negros Occidental, have been declared as drug-cleared villages.Some 20 barangays in the region also retained their status as drug-free.This was the result of the assessment by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing chaired by PDEA Regional Rirector Alex Tablate during a meeting in Mandurriao, Iloilo City last week.It was also attended by representatives of the Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Health.Declared as drug-cleared barangays in Negros Occidental were Barangay 1 Poblacion in Cadiz City, Barangay Cambugsa in Hinigaran town, Barangay 11 in Victorias City and Barangay Central Tabao in Valladolid town.Eight barangays in Dumangas, Iloilo were likewise cleared from illegal drugs while 11 barangays in Guimaras and Capiz, and nine in Iloilo also retained the status as drug-free.
