NEGROS. The Victorias Milling Company (VMC) has completed the P200 million worth of developments for its distillery plant in Barangay Purisima, Manapla town, Negros Occidental as a measure to mainly address environmental concerns previously raised by some residents in the area. In photo, (from left) VMC Corporate Communications Director Anne Tiongco and Plant Chemist Mary Seth Joy Bongcac show the firm’s irrigation ponds that serve as temporary impoundment for about 600- to 800-cubic-meter liquid fertilizer it produces per day from its wastewater using new technology. The distillery obtained a certification from the Department of Agriculture for the use of the liquid fertilizer, which is currently being availed for free by at least 50 sugarcane planters in the community.
