RETURNING Negros Occidental Sixth District Representative Mercedes Alvarez-Lansang has pledged to pursue the completion of the Kabankalan City Airport.Alvarez-Lansang, who is unopposed in the recently concluded local and national elections, said the project has been started by the City Government of Kabankalan and it has to be completed.Alvarez-Lansang said she learned that the Kabankalan City Airport project is also a priority of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.“Most likely it will also be prioritized by the incoming administration of presumptive president Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” she added.The runway of the airport is already nearing completion while funds are needed for the construction of the terminal building and apron, Alvarez-Lansang said.”We are also requesting funds for the extension of the runway so that it can accommodate larger planes in the future,” she added.
