BACOLOD City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran has urged the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to strictly enforce the curfew ordinance for minors from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.Familiaran said the city government has an existing City Ordinance No. 331, an ordinance providing special protection for children during nighttime by imposing curfew for minors.Aside from the police, he said, the parents should also monitor the activities of their children.Familiaran added that the barangay officials should also deploy their tanods (watchmen) to monitor the minors roaming within their villages during night time. The vice mayor stressed that the minors should be accompanied by their guardian or parents when they need to go out during curfew hours. For his part, majority floor leader Councilor Renecito Novero also said the curfew ordinance for minors is a local law and it should be implemented properly. What happened at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) where a 15-year-old boy was stabbed dead was an isolated case and hopefully it will not happen again, he said.He added the Public Order and Safety Office (Poso) was tasked to secure the peace and order at the BCGC along with the personnel of Police Station 4.
