THE tourism sector in Negros Occidental is now showing signs of recovery two years after the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic began. This was stressed by Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena, saying that most of the province’s tourism establishments have already resumed full operations.Decena said the remaining ones will also resume operations as soon as their personnel completed the training which will enable them in terms of handling their guests during this time of the pandemic.Although they are enticing tourists not to hesitate in visiting the province, she said that they are still observing the carrying capacity and minimum health protocols of the tourist spots and facilities to prevent another surge in Covid-19 cases.Decena also said that they have noticed that a lot of cafes and small restaurants have popped up over the last two years. The tourism official expressed elation over this development as it would further help generate employment among those who have lost their jobs and livelihood during the pandemic. The provincial tourism division urged the operators of these establishments to apply for accreditation with the Department of Tourism.Decena said those who would like to apply for accreditation may do so during their Lakbayanihan Tourism Fair at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central from May 16 to 29, 2022.
