Cortex Research Debuts Its Latest Vera 1.6 Model and Vera Platform

The British AI startup has introduced a proprietary hybrid model and integrated agentic platform—both built and hosted entirely in the UK—with over 4,100 users signing up during the first week of its beta launch.
London, England, March 5, 2026 — has launched Vera 1.6, a proprietary hybrid AI model, and the Vera Platform, a unified agentic enterprise and professional system trained, owned, and operated entirely within the United Kingdom. The public beta went live on February 6, 2026.
The company says the launch addresses a structural gap in the UK enterprise AI market, where just 23% of businesses currently deploy AI in production—with security concerns and cross-border data risks cited as the primary barriers. Organizations processing sensitive data through US-headquartered providers are subject to the CLOUD Act, which allows US authorities to compel access to data no matter where it is stored.
Vera is designed to eliminate that dependency. By training and serving its own models on owned hardware within the UK, Cortex Research offers enterprises a compliant alternative with full data sovereignty under UK law, with plans to expand to the EU in the future.
Model architecture and performance
Combines Gated Delta Networks with a Sparse Mixture-of-Experts architecture—a hybrid design the company says delivers competitive reasoning performance at production scale, inherited from the Qwen 3.5 foundation model used.
The model scored 92% on the HMMT February 2025 mathematics benchmark and 85.9% on GPQA Diamond, a graduate-level scientific reasoning evaluation, placing it in the competitive range of top closed-source frontier models such as Claude 4.5 Sonnet, Grok 4.1 & GPT-5-Mini.
Platform capabilities
The platform ships with 20 specialised featuring traceable, auditable execution workflows. Users can delegate multi-step tasks including research, data analysis, document generation, client communications, and presentation creation, with agents coordinating across enterprise systems in real time.
The platform integrates with Slack, Gmail, and Google Drive, and includes voice & and multi-modal capabilities alongside access for enterprise & professional deployment. Security and compliance features are built in, targeting regulated sectors including finance, legal, and healthcare. The company aims to achieve safety compliance by Q4 2026.
