Umapela ang grupo ng mga employer sa bansa na ipagpaliban muna ng gobyerno ang nakatakdas pagtaas ng kontribusyon para sa pondo ng pensyon ng mga miyembro ng Social Security System (SSS).

Katuwiran ni Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) president Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr., ito’y upang mabawasan ang epekto nito sa mga mangagagawa dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin.

“I don’t think 1-year postponement will matter much to SSS life and therefore we are appealing that perhaps it can be postponed to another year. Nowadays any increase, even P1 in the cost is felt by the workers and employers,” dagdag pa niya.

Samantala, sa isang press conference noong Huwebes, kinumpirma ni SSS president at chief executive officer Michael Regino na tataas sa 14% mula sa 13% ang dagdag na kontribusyon ng mga miyembro ng ahensya pagpasok ng Enero 2023.

Subalit nilinaw nito na ang isang porsyentong dagdag sa butaw ng mga miyembro ng SSS ay papasanin ng mga employer.

“This is part of the implementation of the Social Security Act of 2018, and this will also be advantageous to the SSS members in the form of higher benefits,” sabi sa pahayag ng SSS.

Samantala, ang mga boluntaryong miyembro katulad ng self-employed at mga overseas Filipino worker ay babayaran ang sarili nilang kontribusyon. (Dolly Cabreza)
