On March 5, 2026, in Orlando, Florida, the City of Orlando will honor the Brazilian-born entrepreneur Richard Harary with an official recognition known as “Richard Harary Day,” which will be observed on March 6. This is to pay tribute to his contributions to the local economy and community.

The proclamation, issued by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, acknowledges Harary’s entrepreneurial journey and the impact he has had on the city since he moved to the United States from Brazil at the age of 18.

Harary’s story started when he was studying at the University of Central Florida. He opened a luggage store that later developed into a luggage delivery service at Orlando International Airport. Building upon that success, he founded MacroBaby, which became one of the largest baby stores in the United States and a place that families from around the world visiting Orlando would go to.

In addition to his business achievements, the proclamation also emphasizes Harary’s philanthropic work in Central Florida. Through initiatives and partnerships with organizations like Make-A-Wish and other community institutions, he has supported programs that benefit children and families in the region. He is also the founder of the MacroBaby Foundation, which focuses on charitable initiatives.

The City of Orlando recognized Harary for his entrepreneurial spirit, compassion, and dedication to strengthening the community. This official recognition strengthens the impact of immigrant entrepreneurs in shaping Orlando’s economy and cultural diversity, celebrating Harary’s journey from Brazil to becoming one of the city’s most prominent business leaders.
