POI is pleased to announce it has acquired Doing Things Simply Inc. (DTS), an audiovisual solutions provider from Toronto established in 1999. DTS is now officially part of POI, representing a significant move to broaden POI’s integrated workplace offerings. This addition also enhances the technical skills and resources POI can provide to assist clients throughout every phase of a project.

With workplaces growing more interconnected, client demands have evolved accordingly. There is an increasing need for the smooth merging of furniture, architecture, and technology. Clients are increasingly seeking partners capable of planning and executing these elements in unison. The objective is to develop spaces where the physical layout and collaborative technology are conceived as a single, cohesive system, not managed by different vendors.

POI has long held the conviction that a built environment performs more effectively—and, crucially, better supports and motivates its occupants—when all its components are planned in concert. This acquisition puts that principle directly into action.

Designing for True Integration

As hybrid work transitions from a stopgap solution to a permanent approach, the standards for a high-performing workspace have increased. Every meeting and collaboration area must function dependably for participants both on-site and remote, and be planned with careful attention to acoustics, sightlines, lighting, and functionality for mixed-presence scenarios.

If audiovisual systems are designed independently of furniture and interior architecture, these critical factors are addressed too late in the process. Key choices are already locked in, leading to environments that must accommodate technology rather than being enhanced by it. Genuine integration requires incorporating AV planning from the very start of the design phase, treating it as a foundational element, not a final add-on.

What DTS Brings to POI

Since its founding in 1999, DTS has cultivated over twenty years of specialized knowledge in sophisticated digital AV and collaboration systems for corporate, government, healthcare, and educational settings. Its team of 38 professionals includes experts who manage all aspects of a project: design and engineering, implementation, commissioning, user training, and managed services. This expertise is reinforced by top-tier industry certifications and alliances with premier AV and collaboration technology firms.

DTS sets itself apart through its emphasis on user adoption. Technology realizes its full potential only when people use it regularly and with assurance. Such confidence stems from environments where tools are intuitive and well-supported. DTS designs with this end goal, favoring solutions that are simple, dependable, and crafted to serve users well beyond the initial setup. This approach aligns seamlessly with POI’s dedication to developing workplaces that truly empower the teams within them.

“For more than two decades, Doing Things Simply Inc has focused on helping organizations implement workplace technology that is intuitive, reliable, and designed around the way people work, Joining POI provides an opportunity to expand our reach and bring technology, systems design, and managed services together from the very beginning, with the flexibility to support future changes as our customers’ needs evolve.” — Gavin Bridge, Managing Director, DTS

DTS will maintain its current leadership structure. Gavin Bridge continues as Managing Director, with no anticipated alterations to the team or daily operations. The company’s head office will stay at its Birchmount Road location in Scarborough.

What This Means for Organizations

For POI’s clients, incorporating 26 years of AV expertise from the project’s inception expands the realm of possibility. Organizations benefit from more profound technical insight and a project delivery framework structured for greater effectiveness. Instead of managing multiple vendors, clients now engage with one responsible partner who understands the complete scope of their needs. This leads to reduced complexity in project management and more coherent coordination among all specialties.

“At our core, POI is about supporting our customers’ vision and helping them create workplaces that drive business results. Since 1958, POI’s story has been about evolving to meet our customers’ needs and ensuring we are always an integral and relevant part of their project teams. The acquisition of DTS allows us to better support our customers by adding an industry leader in Audiovisual integration into the POI family and enhancing our ability to provide a seamless integration of furniture and technology in the workplace.” Jonas Scholl, CEO, POI

For current DTS clients, the daily service experience is unchanged—the same team, leadership, and quality standards remain. The difference lies in expanded geographical reach. Through this acquisition, DTS extends its footprint into all markets where POI operates in Ontario and Manitoba, offering its technology integration services to a wider audience of clients and partners across both provinces.
