XRP hit a new all-time high in wallet count and the crypto Twitter crowd immediately declared a bull run. That narrative collapse happened fast. The token has dropped over 11 percent through October despite 8.24 million funded wallets hitting a record on the ledger. Wallet growth without price conviction is not a bullish signal. It is a redistribution story wearing a bullish mask.
The raw numbers are stark. Santiment tracked 4,772 new wallets in a single day. That ranks as the fifth-largest daily increase since March. Total non-empty addresses sit at 8.24 million. Those figures sound impressive until you remember exchanges control large swaths of that distribution. Six billion XRP moved onto exchange wallets in the past 30 days. Wallet count alone does not prove accumulation. It proves address creation. Those are two very different things.
Price action tells the real story. XRP has been stuck trading between $1.31 and $1.36 for weeks. Santiment flagged $1.40 as the first level buyers must reclaim before a legitimate recovery is possible. Daily wallet creation would need to stay above 4,000 alongside any sustained price move. A break above $1.40 alone does not confirm the longer-term chart pattern. The ETF data confirms the selling pressure. A 13-week inflow streak ended. Roughly $2.3 million left the XRP ETF during the week ending October 16. Inflows stopped. Outflows began.
The chart setup is where the hope lives. The weekly timeframe shows a developing inverse head and shoulders pattern. The left shoulder formed at $1.2795 in April. The head dropped to $0.9874 in August. The right shoulder recovered from a $1.2550 low. For this pattern to matter, XRP must clear a resistance zone between $1.5093 and $1.6667. Sellers have defended that area repeatedly since February. The neckline break is the trigger. Above it sits a Fibonacci target around $2.0084. Below $1.30, the near-term recovery outlook weakens considerably.
Market structure reinforces the caution. Over $300 million in long positions closed within 24 hours during the latest selloff wave. Those liquidations reflect current weakness, not trend reversal. A sustained move above the neckline would shift the balance toward the bullish setup. Until that happens, the pattern remains a possibility rather than a confirmed breakout.
XRP sits at a divergence point between on-chain optimism and pricing reality. The wallet numbers tell one story. The price action tells another. ETF flows tell a third. Anyone chasing a quick move toward $2 without a confirmed neckline break is trading pattern recognition instead of market structure. Wait for the breakout. Then decide.
