OMRON Healthcare Marks 40 Years of Ohasama Study for World Heart Day

KYOTO, Japan, Sept 15, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd., a global leader in clinically proven medical equipment for home health monitoring and treatment, has marked the 40th anniversary of the Ohasama Study, one of the world's longest-running community-based cardiovascular research projects. Ahead of World Heart Day (September 29), the milestone celebrates four decades of work that helped establish home blood pressure monitoring as a global standard for hypertension management and remains a driving force in preventive cardiovascular care through ongoing research. The Ohasama Study was launched in 1986 by a team from Tohoku University under the leadership of Professor Yutaka Imai, acting in response to the high burden of hypertension and stroke in the community of Ohasama, Iwate Prefecture. The study has since followed more than 11,000 local residents over an average of 15 years, demonstrating that home blood pressure measurement is a stronger predictor of cardiovascular outcomes than in-clinic readings alone. Inspired by a shared vision, OMRON Healthcare supported the study from its outset with the provision of some 300 home blood pressure monitors, establishing a close relationship that continues today. Built on a long-term partnership between local residents, healthcare professionals, and researchers, the study has influenced hypertension guidelines worldwide—including those of the World Health Organization and the European Society of Hypertension—laying the scientific foundation for today's internationally recognised 135/85 mmHg home blood pressure threshold, and helping to establish home blood pressure measurement as a routine part of hypertension diagnosis and management. As cardiovascular disease remains the world's leading cause of death, OMRON Healthcare continues to honour the study's legacy through its Going for Zero vision, which aims to eliminate adverse cerebro- and cardiovascular events through preventive care. Now led by Professor Takayoshi Ohkubo as a multicentre collaborative study coordinated by Tokyo’s Teikyo University, the Ohasama Study continues to generate new insights. Recent findings have included an association between a higher urinary sodium-to-potassium ratio and elevated BNP levels, a biomarker of cardiac load, suggesting potential for earlier identification of cardiac stress."When the Ohasama Study began, blood pressure was generally considered something to be measured in medical facilities rather than at home," said Dr. Yutaka Imai, Professor Emeritus, Tohoku University and founding principal investigator of the Ohasama Study. "The study was made possible by the long-term cooperation of local residents, healthcare professionals, government officials, and researchers. By measuring and recording their blood pressure at home day after day, the people of Ohasama helped us build the scientific evidence demonstrating the clinical value of home blood pressure measurement and its importance in assessing cerebro- and cardiovascular risk. Forty years on, I am delighted that this work has contributed to the wider adoption of home blood pressure monitoring and improved hypertension management. I look forward to the Ohasama Study continuing to generate new insights for preventive healthcare and digital health.""The Ohasama Study has shown how sustained collaboration between researchers, healthcare professionals and local communities can transform cardiovascular care worldwide," said Ayumu Okada, President and CEO, OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd. "We are proud to have supported this important work from its earliest days and deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to its success over four decades. As we pursue our Going for Zero vision, we remain committed to promoting evidence-based innovation that empowers individuals and families while supporting healthcare professionals in reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease."Building on its longstanding commitment to home blood pressure monitoring, OMRON Healthcare continues to advance preventive cardiovascular care through initiatives including the promotion of regular home blood pressure measurement and earlier detection of atrial fibrillation.Banner image: Home blood pressure measurement as part of the Ohasama Study in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Fujitsu releases Open Quantum Application Research Package as open source to accelerate quantum application development

KAWASAKI, Japan, September 15, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu Limited today announced the global open-source release of its quantum application development software, Open Quantum Application Research Package (OpenQARP (code name)).The software offers over 100 software components, including Fujitsu-developed quantum algorithms. These components can be combined to significantly streamline quantum application development. The software is compatible with various execution environments, such as Fujitsu's quantum simulator built on a large-scale HPC environment and the NVIDIA CUDA-Q platform [1] for hybrid quantum-classical computing. Prior to its public release, Fujitsu has provided a beta version of the software to over 80 organizations since February 2026 through joint research and the Quantum Simulator Challenge [2], and it has already been used to generate numerous research and development results in quantum applications.By publicly releasing the software, which includes Fujitsu-developed algorithms, as open-source software, Fujitsu aims to accelerate the practical adoption of quantum software and contribute to addressing societal challenges through quantum technology.BackgroundQuantum computing is expected to provide one approach to solving complex problems that conventional computers cannot address in various societal domains, such as materials development, financial optimization, healthcare, and drug discovery. Fujitsu has been engaged in the development of specific quantum applications through joint demonstrations with customers across various industries and joint research with universities and research institutions. To accelerate the practical adoption of quantum technology, it is crucial that cutting-edge algorithms are widely reusable rather than being custom-built for specific problems. Therefore, Fujitsu developed Open Quantum Application Research Package (OpenQARP (code name)), a quantum application development software that implements versatile quantum algorithms as components to promote their use in quantum algorithm development across various industries. To further expand the adoption of quantum technology, Fujitsu is now publicly releasing the software as open-source software on GitHub.Features of Open Quantum Application Research Package1. Streamlined implementation through the provision of versatile software componentsOpenQARP (code name) provides over 70 composable building blocks, from state preparation and ansatz layers to the Quantum Fourier Transform. It also provides over 20 ready-to-run algorithms built from these blocks, including Subspace-Search Variational Quantum Eigensolver [3] for Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum [4] devices and quantum phase estimation for fault-tolerant quantum computing [5]. Users can combine these components according to their objectives to develop quantum applications, thereby reducing software implementation efforts.Fujitsu actively uses the software in its own research and publishes the resulting outcomes. For example, in the research and development of quantum chemistry applications for calculating molecular electronic states, implementing a process using the ADAPT-VQE algorithm required approximately 130 lines of Python code, which its components reduced to under 40 lines. This significantly reduces the burden of implementing quantum algorithms, allowing researchers to focus on validating algorithms and applications.2. Efficient quantum computation through Fujitsu-developed advanced algorithmsOpenQARP (code name) also provides Fujitsu-developed quantum algorithms as components. These include the Unitary pair Coupled Cluster Doubles algorithm, which leverages pre-computation results from classical computers to reduce the number of quantum gate layers (circuit depth) required for initial state preparation in quantum chemical calculations, and Density of States Quantum Phase Estimation, which reduces the burden of preparing complex input states required for quantum phase estimation and efficiently obtains information about energy spectra.3. Compatibility with various execution environments, from general PCs to GPU-equipped systems and supercomputersOpenQARP (code name) can be easily installed and used by anyone in a standard PC environment that supports Python. It can also integrate with NVIDIA CUDA-Q as a backend via a source build, enabling quantum circuit execution in open GPU-accelerated environments. Furthermore, it can be used in Fujitsu's 40-qubit state-vector quantum simulator environment, which is composed of 1,024 FUJITSU Supercomputer PRIMEHPC FX700 units, each equipped with Fujitsu's "A64FX" [6] processor. This supercomputing environment has been made available to more than 80 organizations through the Quantum Simulator Challenge, and the pre-released beta version of the software has been used to perform a variety of quantum computations. Fujitsu also plans to sequentially support simulation environments based on the STAR architecture for quantum computing that it is researching.Future PlansFujitsu will continue to promote OpenQARP (code name) not only within the quantum community but also across various industrial sectors. The company aims to accelerate the development of a wide range of quantum applications in society and contribute to addressing societal challenges through quantum technology.Comment from Sam Stanwyck, Director of Quantum Product at NVIDIA:Providing the open tools and resources to accelerate quantum application development is one of the most important ways to accelerate the journey to useful quantum computing. Sony Bank and Fujitsu apply Generative AI to Core Banking System Development

Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan, September 14, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Sony Bank, Inc. (Sony Bank) and Fujitsu Limited (Fujitsu) today announced the full-scale application of generative AI in the development of Sony Bank's core banking system, starting in September 2025. By establishing a mechanism for AI to utilize development assets such as design documents, source code, and test assets, and gradually expanding its application to key processes from design to manufacturing and testing through actual development, the companies have confirmed a 30% reduction in the development period from basic design to integration testing as of July 2026, compared to conventional methods. The system adopts Fujitsu's core banking solution, "Fujitsu Core Banking xBank"[1] ("Core Banking xBank"). "Core Banking xBank" features a cloud-native architecture operating on Amazon Web Services (AWS), providing an environment that enables rapid integration and trials with generative AI services. This environment allowed for the phased application of generative AI to each process. In this initiative, an AI agent centered on Anthropic PBC's "Claude"[2] on “Amazon Bedrock”[3] is utilized across processes, with human oversight for final judgment and quality assurance. The use of generative AI is not limited to proof-of-concept (PoC) but has been established as a development process for a core banking system in live operation.Sony Bank and Fujitsu will leverage the knowledge and development assets gained from this initiative to other processes and systems, further deepening and expanding the use of generative AI at Sony Bank. Fujitsu will also apply the knowledge gained from this initiative to future "Core Banking xBank" development and development for other financial institutions, contributing to the advancement of financial system development.BackgroundIt can take Japanese financial institutions several months to years to move from planning to launching new services, and high development costs and complex development processes have made it difficult to respond quickly to rapidly changing market environments. As generative AI matures, the ability to embed it into live development processes is becoming a competitive differentiator.Amidst this, both companies, together with Amazon Web Services Japan (AWS Japan), have been promoting the transformation of the development process for core banking systems, which are the foundation of banking operations.Overview of the InitiativeStarting in September 2025, Sony Bank and Fujitsu are utilizing Anthropic’s "Claude" model and other models provided on Amazon Bedrock. In this initiative, generative AI transforms the entire development process by leveraging design documents, source code, and test assets across all stages. This initiative has resulted in a 40% reduction in man-hours and a 30% reduction in development period for processes from basic design to integration testing. Specifically, the companies confirmed up to a 90% reduction in impact assessment man-hours in the basic design phase, up to a 40% reduction in design document creation man-hours in the detailed design phase, a 99% source code generation rate in the implementation phase, and up to a 90% reduction in test execution man-hours in the integration testing phase.Figure 1: Expansion of Generative AI Applications and Key Benefits (As of July 2026)1. Transformation to an AI-centric development processGenerative AI is applied not only to specific processes such as coding but across major development processes including basic design, manufacturing/unit testing, and integration testing. Furthermore, an AI agent centered on "Claude" and "Claude Code"[4] on Amazon Bedrock utilizes development assets such as design documents, source code, and test assets of Sony Bank's core banking system across processes. By generating source code and test cases from design documents and reusing deliverables from upstream processes in subsequent processes, inter-process collaboration is strengthened, leading to improved development efficiency. In addition, each AI agent supports development by linking with necessary development assets and various tools[5], under human judgment, approval, and quality assurance, thereby achieving both quality and productivity.2. Application to to actual development, not just PoCThis initiative applies generative AI to the actual development of a live core banking system, not just to conceptual PoCs or limited trials. It is also utilized in the development of various applications that support banking operations, including online transaction processing and batch processing, demonstrating practical application regardless of processing type. Furthermore, by incorporating generative AI into the standard development process and having Fujitsu personnel with expertise in financial operations and system development evaluate and improve it at appropriate times, the scope of application is expanded while ensuring safety and quality.3. High compatibility with "Core Banking xBank"The cloud-native and microservices-based architecture adopted by "Core Banking xBank" serves as a crucial foundation for leveraging generative AI. The environment operating on AWS enables rapid integration and verification with generative AI services, and the microservices structure allows for phased application and evaluation on a function-by-function basis. As a result, generative AI was continuously applied to each of the design, implementation, and testing processes, and its effectiveness was verified, leading to an expansion of its application scope.Figure 2: Overview of the InitiativeFuture PlansSony Bank and Fujitsu will proceed with the application of generative AI to the entire development process, including requirements definition, and gradually expand its application to security, operations, and maintenance areas. Furthermore, the knowledge and development assets gained from this initiative will be utilized in peripheral systems, further deepening and expanding the use of generative AI at Sony Bank. Sony Bank aims to become an "AI-native bank" that can quickly respond to changing customer needs and business environments by continuously utilizing AI.Fujitsu plans to extend this model to other financial institutions adopting "Core Banking xBank," supporting the broader modernization of banking systems in Japan. The knowledge and feedback gained from this initiative will also be utilized in the development of "Uvance for Finance AI Transformation Platform", a dedicated AI platform that supports AI utilization for financial institutions, aiming for further sophistication of AI-driven system development. Additionally, through Uvance for Finance, which enhances financial operations with data and AI, Fujitsu will accelerate system development for financial institutions and advance the continuous transformation of financial services.Figure 3: Illustration of the Expansion of Generative AI Applications at Sony BankTatsuya Fukushima, Executive Officer, Sony Bank Incorporated comments:Sony Bank considers the advancement of system development capabilities as one of its critical management challenges to respond quickly to changing customer needs and business environments. The successful full-scale application of generative AI to the development of our production core banking system is a significant step towards becoming a bank that continuously evolves based on AI. We will continue to promote our evolution into an AI-native bank while ensuring safety and quality through collaboration with Fujitsu, AWS Japan, and Anthropic.Masaru Yagi, Corporate Executive Officer, EVP, Fujitsu Limited comments:Fujitsu is promoting the provision of "Core Banking xBank" as a mission-critical foundation that supports the transformation of financial institutions. This initiative is an advanced example of the full-scale application of generative AI to the actual development of a core banking system on "Core Banking xBank," demonstrating a new model for financial system development. We will continue to collaborate with Sony Bank, AWS Japan, and Anthropic to further promote the practical application of AI in the Japanese financial industry.Yasuhiro Kose, Executive Officer, Amazon Web Services Japan comments:Applying generative AI across design, build, and testing in the live development of a bank's core banking system, and achieving a 30% reduction in development time while maintaining the compliance and reliability the industry demands, is a significant milestone for the Japanese financial services. This is exactly the kind of initiative Amazon Bedrock was built to support.Hidetoshi Tojo, Executive Officer, Head of Japan, Anthropic Japan G.K. comments:A banking system carries the trust of every customer, so it is essential that organizations use trusted AI that can be applied safely to work of this consequence. Sony Bank and Fujitsu are doing just that by applying Claude across the design, development, and testing of a production core banking system, with human judgment and quality assurance at every stage. Fujitsu launches made-in-Japan next-generation CPU FUJITSU-MONAKA and Fujitsu MONAKA Server for sovereign AI infrastructure

KAWASAKI, Japan, September 14, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu Limited today announced that it will begin global sales of its next-generation CPU, FUJITSU-MONAKA [1], designed and developed in Japan, starting November 2026. This will include sales of the processor as a standalone product to cloud and data center operators and server vendors. Additionally, the company will launch the made-in-Japan Fujitsu MONAKA Server equipped with the FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU, offering high reliability and power efficiency as a sovereign AI infrastructure. Fujitsu MONAKA Server will be made broadly available from November 2026 to data center operators, enterprises, and the academic and HPC sectors in Japan and Europe, as well as to the defense sector, contributing to national security. The FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU integrates Fujitsu's extensive expertise in processor and server development, achieving world-class computational performance and data supply capabilities with a maximum operating frequency of 3.8GHz and memory transfer speed of 8800MT/s. It delivers twice the AI inference throughput and superior power efficiency compared to other CPUs, effectively halving the number of servers and power consumption required for equivalent processing loads.Fujitsu MONAKA Server, powered by the FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU, enhances sovereign capabilities through domestic manufacturing, contributing to traceability and supply chain transparency. Furthermore, at a time when power and installation space are significant challenges for AI infrastructure expansion, this CPU server alone can build an AI inference platform. Its space-saving and power-efficient design allows for deployment in air-cooled data centers, significantly increasing customers' capacity for AI infrastructure expansion. Fujitsu MONAKA Server also supports future scalability through resource pooling technology and reduces cooling energy consumption with Fujitsu's long-cultivated cooling technologies.Fujitsu is committed to supporting customers' autonomy and accountability by providing a sustainable sovereign AI infrastructure with high operability. Moreover, with Fujitsu MONAKA Server at its core, Fujitsu will deploy a vertically integrated sovereign AI model that combines its proprietary AI technologies, such as the AI platform Fujitsu Kozuchi and enterprise-grade generative AI Takane, with industry-specific models. This will provide a sovereign AI platform with enhanced measures for traceability, security, and operational autonomy transparency, creating an environment where customers can utilize AI with peace of mind and confidence.BackgroundIn recent years, the expansion of generative AI has led to a shortage of computing resources and a rapid increase in power demand, posing new management and societal challenges. This has heightened the importance of low-power-consumption CPUs that can deliver higher processing performance with limited power. Simultaneously, there is a growing need for on-premises AI infrastructure that allows companies to manage and operate confidential information securely in-house, requiring AI infrastructure that can operate even in locations without specialized infrastructure like water cooling. Furthermore, with increasing geopolitical risks, interest in platforms that ensure supply chain reliability and transparency is also growing.Features of FUJITSU-MONAKA and Fujitsu MONAKA Server1. FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU: Achieving High Performance, High Power Efficiency, and High SecurityFUJITSU-MONAKA utilizes a 3D-stacked architecture with a state-of-the-art 2nm process for the core and a 5nm process for the cache and I/O sections. By combining optimal processes for each function, it enhances cost efficiency and achieves high power efficiency and performance through Fujitsu's unique ultra-low voltage operation technology. It delivers world-class computational performance and data supply capabilities with a maximum operating frequency of 3.8GHz and memory transfer speed of 8800MT/s. The CPU provides hardware acceleration for matrix operations, which are central to AI inference, using dedicated instructions. Combined with SVE2 vector operations and software optimization, it achieves twice the throughput for AI inference compared to other CPUs. This enables practical AI inference performance from the CPU alone, offering the flexibility to deploy at the necessary scale even in locations with power and cooling constraints.Additionally, it features confidential computing [2] to protect data and applications running in memory with hardware encryption, supporting advanced AI utilization in secure environments, even in multi-tenant cloud environments.Figure 1: Image of FUJITSU-MONAKA2. Fujitsu MONAKA Server: Enhancing Transparency through Domestic Manufacturing for Sustainable Sovereign AI InfrastructureThe Fujitsu MONAKA Server is designed, developed and manufactured in Japan for sovereign applications. Manufacturing takes place at Fujitsu's Kasashima Plant. This ensures traceability by making the origin of components and manufacturing history visible and trackable, thereby strengthening supply chain transparency and reliability. Starting November 2026, Fujitsu will begin selling 2U (two CPUs) and 1U (one or two CPUs) rack-mount servers, ideal for AI agents and AI inference, in Japan and Europe. The 1U server adopts CDI/CXL technology [3], allowing for optimal allocation of memory and accelerators beyond Fujitsu MONAKA Server's physical boundaries. This mitigates memory shortages, a common challenge in AI inference, and maximizes resource utilization efficiency, flexibly adapting to future large-scale AI models and workload changes. Furthermore, by leveraging Fujitsu's long-standing cooling technology, the 1U server can operate in ambient temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius with air cooling and water temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius with water cooling, without requiring specialized cooling infrastructure. This reduces server cooling power consumption by up to 80%. DOCOMO Conducts Green Base Station Demonstration with PLDT in the Philippines to Advance Decarbonization Technologies

TOKYO, Japan, September 9, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NTT DOCOMO, INC., together with the Philippine telecommunications operator PLDT Inc. and its mobile subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc., has successfully conducted a demonstration in the Philippines using renewable energy such as solar power*1 and DOCOMO's weather-forecast-linked lithium-ion battery control technology.*2 The technology automatically optimizes, based on the weather forecasts, the charging and discharging of batteries used at green base stations. The demonstration results showed that solar power utilization efficiency improved by 23 percentage points, from 38% before the demonstration to 61%. DOCOMO independently developed the technology for green base stations in Japan, and this demonstration marks the first deployment of this technology outside Japan. For the demonstration, two green base stations were built—one near Metro Manila and one at a site in Cebu with different operating and power-supply conditions. In addition to solar power equipment and battery storage systems, the stations use DOCOMO's Energy Management System (EMS) platform,*3 an energy management system incorporating weather-forecast-linked lithium-ion battery control technology. According to PLDT, this is the first initiative in the Philippines to optimize power generation, storage and supply at telecommunications base stations in advance based on weather and electricity demand forecasts.*4Figure 1. Green Base Station System ConfigurationConventional solar-only base stations rely on grid power at night and during bad weather and risk of service interruptions during power outages. The demonstration incorporates high-capacity batteries and a locally redesigned version of weather-forecast-linked lithium-ion battery control algorithm developed by DOCOMO.*5 The system optimizes power generation, storage and supply around the clock, maintaining stable service at night and during outages while improving renewable-energy use, reducing grid-power consumption and COâ‚‚ emissions, and decarbonizing base stations.Figure 2. TANAKA to Showcase Precious Metal Technologies at Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026 in Hamburg

TOKYO, Sept 9, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - TANAKA PRECIOUS METAL TECHNOLOGIES Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Koichiro Tanaka) will exhibit for the first time at Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026 from October 20–22, 2026, at Hamburg Messe, Hamburg, Germany. Visitors can meet TANAKA at Hall B7, Booth 7J54. The company will present technologies for hydrogen production, purification, utilization and precious metal circularity.Hydrogen is gaining a larger role in global decarbonization efforts. Precious metals are central to many related technologies: platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), iridium (Ir), rhodium (Rh) and ruthenium (Ru) are used in fuel-cell and water-electrolysis electrocatalysts, also in reforming, shift-reaction, PROX and oxidation catalysts while Pd supports selective hydrogen separation. As deployment grows, improved performance must be accompanied by efficient metal use, recovery and reuse.TANAKA supports the hydrogen value chain by combining materials technology with precious metal recovery and refining. This integrated approach advances hydrogen-system performance while enabling circular use of precious metal resources. Building on over four decades of fuel-cell catalyst development, TANAKA offers not only strong catalyst development capabilities but also large-scale manufacturing capacity and exceptional quality stability. Based on these strengths, TANAKA has expanded into water-electrolysis catalysts, hydrogen-permeable membranes, reforming, shift-reaction, PROX and oxidation catalysts, and precious-metal-plated components.TANAKA's industrial precious metals business integrates procurement, development, manufacturing, recovery and refining. These capabilities support circular metal use and stable material supply across the product lifecycle.Commenting on TANAKA's participation, Shingo Suzuki, Managing Director of TANAKA PRECIOUS METALS Europe GmbH, said,"Precious metals are still essential to hydrogen technologies, and their responsible management must advance alongside materials performance. At Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026, we look forward to discussing with customers and industry partners how catalyst innovation, recovery and refining can support a more sustainable hydrogen industry."Technologies Supporting the Hydrogen Value ChainAt the exhibition, TANAKA will present technologies covering electrocatalysis, hydrogen purification, gas processing, plated components and precious metal circularity. The exhibits below explain their functions and practical benefits.Electrode Catalyst for Fuel CellsTANAKA has developed electrocatalysts for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) since 1985 and today has a world-leading supply record in this field. Its highly active, durable catalysts draw on decades of precious metal catalyst design and electrochemistry to improve fuel-cell performance and durability.Electrode Catalyst for Water ElectrolysisTANAKA develops electrocatalysts for water-electrolysis cell stacks. Pt-based cathode catalysts support the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), while Ir-based anode catalysts support the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). High-surface-area designs target high activity while reducing the use of iridium, one of the rarest platinum group metals (PGMs).Precious Metal-Plated ElectrodesTANAKA provides substrate processing and precious metal plating for components in various shapes, including feeder plates used with solid polymer electrolyte membranes. Precious metal use can be reduced through thinner coatings, partial plating and recoating.Hydrogen Permeable MembranePd is the only metal that selectively permeates hydrogen, enabling separation from other gases. TANAKA combines ultra-thin membrane processing with advanced cleaning technologies to produce Pd-alloy hydrogen-permeable membranes, including HPM-L111. These membranes provide high hydrogen permeability and enable purification at operating temperatures of approximately 100°C.Reforming CatalystsRu- and Rh-based steam reforming catalysts efficiently produce hydrogen from hydrocarbons (HCs) such as natural gas through reactions with steam. They maintain high reforming activity across a wide temperature range while suppressing carbon deposition, supporting catalyst durability and stable hydrogen production.Shift-Reaction and Preferential Oxidation (PROX) CatalystsShift-reaction catalysts use the water-gas shift reaction to convert carbon monoxide (CO) and steam into carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2), increasing hydrogen yield. Preferential oxidation (PROX) catalysts selectively oxidize residual CO to below 10 ppm, producing high-purity hydrogen for PEFCs. TANAKA's precious metal-based catalysts provide high activity at lower temperatures, supporting more compact and efficient hydrogen processing systems.Oxidation CatalystsOxidation catalysts support exhaust gas treatment in fuel-cell systems, particularly SOFCs, by oxidizing combustible components such as CO, H2, and HCs, while enabling the resulting heat to be utilized for preheating fuel and air to improve overall system efficiency.Precious Metal Recovery and RefiningTANAKA recovers and refines precious metals used in hydrogen-related applications. The refined metals can be returned to manufacturing, supporting circular resource use and stable material supply.Exhibition Overview - Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026- Exhibition Name: Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026- Dates: October 20–22, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (local time in Germany)- Venue: Hamburg Messe, Hamburg, Germany- Booth Number: Hall B7, Booth 7J54- Main Exhibits: Fuel Cell Electrocatalysts; Water Electrolysis Electrocatalysts; Precious Metal-Plated Electrodes; Pd alloy-based Hydrogen Permeable Membranes; Reforming Catalysts; Shift-Reaction and PROX Catalysts; Oxidation Catalysts; Precious Metal Recovery and RefiningFor more information about TANAKA products and the role of precious metals in carbon neutrality, visit: The Role of Precious Metals in Contributing to Carbon Neutrality | TANAKAAbout TANAKASince its foundation in 1885, TANAKA has built a portfolio of products to support a diversified range of business uses focused on precious metals. Fujitsu and Yaqumo begin testing quantum computing architecture and basic software on neutral-atom quantum computer hardware JCN Newswire

Fujitsu and Yaqumo begin testing quantum computing architecture and basic software on neutral-atom quantum computer hardware

Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan, September 9, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu Limited (Fujitsu) and Yaqumo Inc. (Yaqumo) today announced that they have begun verifying quantum computing architectures and basic software on actual neutral-atom quantum computers [1] to accelerate the practical use of quantum computers.Fujitsu will combine its "STAR architecture [2]," a quantum computing architecture developed primarily for superconducting quantum computers in the Early-FTQC (Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computer) era [3], and "Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and Users [4]," an open-source software that covers everything from environment setup to operation necessary for quantum computer cloud services, with Yaqumo's neutral-atom quantum computers currently under development. This collaboration aims to accelerate the advancement of both technologies by testing them on actual hardware.Since April 2026, both companies have been conducting theoretical studies as part of their joint research on the applicability of STAR architecture and related technologies to neutral-atom quantum computers, which differ from superconducting types. They began testing on an actual machine in August 2026.Through this joint research, the two companies will combine their strengths to develop diverse quantum computing technologies, thereby contributing to the practical deployment of quantum computing solutions that address societal challenges.Neutral-atom quantum computers are characterized by their ease of achieving all-to-all connectivity between qubits. This expands the possibilities for computational methods that differ from those used in other modalities, such as superconducting quantum computers, where qubit connectivity is constrained. This could also enable a more efficient quantum error correction. Therefore, research and development of software and architectural technologies that maximize these characteristics are crucial.Fujitsu has been engaged in a wide range of research and development aimed at realizing practical quantum computing technologies, from quantum hardware such as superconducting qubits to basic quantum computer software, FTQC, and research into quantum computing architectures for the Early-FTQC era. Fujitsu will now implement and verify the STAR architecture using neutral-atom quantum computers, promoting R&D with an eye toward the transition to FTQC. Furthermore, by adapting Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and USers to neutral atom quantum computers, users will be able to operate multiple types of quantum computers through a unified interface, thereby promoting the widespread adoption of quantum computers.Yaqumo is a startup engaged in the research and development of quantum computer hardware using ytterbium neutral-atoms. The company aims to develop a working system with more than several hundred qubits and quantum error correction capabilities by fiscal year 2027.For the practical realization of quantum computers, multiple hardware approaches are competitively advancing. In research and development aimed at social implementation, it is crucial to broadly explore the possibilities of diverse quantum computer technologies. In this joint research, Fujitsu's quantum software and architecture technologies will be combined with Yaqumo's neutral-atom quantum computers and verified on actual hardware to explore new technological possibilities that leverage the unique characteristics of neutral-atom systems. While the STAR architecture has the potential to significantly reduce the number of qubits required for quantum computation, its effectiveness varies greatly depending on the type of quantum computer. By verifying the STAR architecture on actual neutral-atom quantum computers, this project will evaluate its compatibility with real hardware, which cannot be confirmed through theoretical studies alone. It will also explore the possibility of achieving practical quantum computation with fewer qubits by leveraging the unique characteristics of neutral-atom systems. If successful, this is expected to pave a new path for improving performance while limiting the hardware scale required for the practical application of quantum computers.Since the commands sent to neutral-atom quantum computers differ from those for superconducting quantum computers, it is necessary to adapt the command conversion, job management, and device status monitoring and calibration functions to the neutral-atom control system. In this joint research, Fujitsu's Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and USers, developed by Fujitsu and other collaborators, an open-source basic software for quantum computers, will be interconnected with Yaqumo's neutral-atom quantum computers. This will create an environment where external users can access neutral-atom quantum computers via the cloud, aiming to realize a platform that can handle different types of quantum computers with a unified interface.Comment from Kazuhiro Nakashoji, CEO, Yaqumo Inc.We believe that Fujitsu's expertise in architecture design and cloud infrastructure, accumulated through its work on superconducting and diamond spin quantum computing, will strongly support our research and development of neutral-atom quantum computers. Through demonstrations involving connectivity with Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and USers and other Early-FTQC era technologies such as the STAR architecture, we aim to accumulate technical expertise that further unlocks the potential of neutral-atom quantum computing. This joint research will steadily advance our efforts toward realizing FTQC.Comment from Shintaro Sato, Fellow and Head of Quantum Laboratory, Fujitsu Research, Fujitsu LimitedFor the practical application of quantum computing, it is crucial to advance research and development on both innovative hardware technologies and architectural and software technologies that maximize their potential. We have high expectations that verifying the compatibility of Yaqumo's neutral-atom quantum computers with the STAR architecture and Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and USers through testing on actual hardware will lead to the establishment of efficient quantum computing methods and enhanced access and operating environments. Through this joint research, we aim to acquire new insights leveraging the characteristics of neutral-atom quantum computers and contribute to the development of quantum computing technologies for the FTQC and Early-FTQC eras.TrademarkAll product names and other proper nouns mentioned herein are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners.[1] Neutral-atom quantum computer:A type of quantum computer that optically traps neutral atoms cooled to extremely low temperatures with lasers and manipulates them with laser light. It is characterized by high scalability and long coherence times, and is attracting attention as a platform suitable for building large-scale quantum systems.[2] STAR architecture:Short for "Space-Time efficient Analog Rotation quantum computing architecture," it is a quantum computing architecture that enables highly efficient phase-rotation gates. By significantly reducing the number of qubits required for arbitrary angle phase rotation, which is indispensable for realizing quantum computers, it is expected to accelerate the practical application of quantum computers that surpass the computational performance of current computers.[3] Early-FTQC era:An era in which only tens of thousands of qubits can be implemented, and fault-tolerant quantum computation is not yet fully achievable. FTQC (Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computer) is a quantum computer equipped with functions to correct errors that occur during quantum computation.[4] Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and Users:Fujitsu open-sourced and released on GitHub Open Quantum Toolchain for OPerators and USers, a core software suite covering everything required for quantum computer cloud services, from execution environment setup to operational management.About FujitsuFujitsu’s purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. LEQEMBI(R) (lecanemab) Subcutaneous Formulation as an Initiation Treatment for Early Alzheimer’s Disease Approved in China JCN Newswire

LEQEMBI(R) (lecanemab) Subcutaneous Formulation as an Initiation Treatment for Early Alzheimer’s Disease Approved in China

TOKYO and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., September 8, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Eisai Co., Ltd. and Biogen Inc. (Nasdaq: BIIB) announced today that the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China has approved the subcutaneous formulation (subcutaneous autoinjector: SC-AI), the anti-amyloid beta (Aβ) protofibril antibody LEQEMBI® (generic name: lecanemab) as an initiation treatment for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or mild AD dementia (collectively referred to as early AD). The application was accepted by the NMPA in January 2026 and was subsequently granted Priority Review designation. Launch is planned during Eisai’s FY 2026, ending March 31, 2027.LEQEMBI SC-AI is a self-administered autoinjector formulation. The approved regimen is 500 mg given once weekly as two consecutive 250 mg injections. With this approval, LEQEMBI treatment now offers a new option of once-weekly SC administration at home, in addition to intravenous (IV) administration every two weeks in a hospital setting. Patients may also switch from IV to SC administration, or vice versa, during treatment.LEQEMBI SC-AI may significantly reduce the time required compared with IV infusions (approximate injection time of 15 seconds per injection). In addition, at-home administration may reduce the burden of clinic visits for patients and their care partners and enable treatment options that better fit their lifestyles, providing greater flexibility for going out and traveling. The improved convenience and flexibility of treatment with LEQEMBI is expected to lower barriers to initiating and continuing treatment with LEQEMBI. Furthermore, LEQEMBI SC-AI also has the potential to reduce healthcare resources associated with IV dosing, such as nurse monitoring, as well as maintaining infusion capacity. These features are expected to contribute to further streamlining the overall AD treatment pathway. For ARIA (amyloid-related imaging abnormalities) monitoring, as with IV administration, brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed prior to initiating treatment and at specified time points after treatment initiation.AD is a relentless disease with Aβ and tau as hallmarks, caused by a continuous underlying neurotoxic process driven by protofibrils that begins before amyloid plaque accumulation and continues after plaque removal.1,2,3 Only LEQEMBI fights AD in two ways – targeting both protofibrils and amyloid plaque. This marks the second country globally to approve LEQEMBI SC-AI. This approval is based on the integrated results of data and associated modeling and simulation from the 18-month core study of the Phase 3 Clarity AD study of LEQEMBI in patients with early AD, as well as multiple subcutaneous (SC) administration sub-studies (including the Chinese cohort) in its subsequent long-term extension (LTE). Once-weekly administration of SC-AI 500mg demonstrated exposure equivalent to once every two weeks IV administration, with similar clinical and biomarker benefits. The overall safety profile of SC administration was generally similar to that of IV administration. Injection-related reactions were observed with subcutaneous LEQEMBI, most of which were localized, while systemic reactions were less frequently observed.Eisai estimates that there were 17 million patients with MCI or mild dementia due to AD in China in 2024, which is expected to increase as the population ages. LEQEMBI was launched in China in June 2024 and is leading the establishment of anti-amyloid therapy in AD management, expanding its contribution to patients with early AD.Eisai serves as the lead of LEQEMBI development and regulatory submissions globally with Eisai and Biogen co-commercializing and co-promoting the product and Eisai having final decision-making authority. Eisai will distribute the product in China and will conduct information provision activities through specialized medical representatives.About lecanemab (generic name, brand name: LEQEMBI®)Lecanemab is the result of a strategic research alliance between Eisai and BioArctic. It is a humanized immunoglobulin gamma (IgG1) monoclonal antibody directed against aggregated soluble (protofibril) and insoluble forms of amyloid-beta (Aβ).Lecanemab has been approved in 53 countries and regions including Japan, the U.S., China, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia, and is under regulatory review in 6 countries. Following the initial phase with treatment every two weeks for 18 months, intravenous (IV) maintenance dosing with treatment every four weeks is approved in 9 countries and regions including the U.S., China, the UK, and others, and applications have been filed in 11 countries and regions. The U.S. FDA approved Eisai’s Biologics License Application (BLA) for subcutaneous maintenance dosing with LEQEMBI IQLIK in August 2025. For subcutaneous initiation treatment (500 mg), approval was obtained in the United States in July 2026, and applications are under review in three countries, including Japan.LEQEMBI's approvals in these countries were based on Phase 3 data from Eisai's global placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group, randomized Clarity AD clinical trial, in which it met its primary endpoint and all key secondary endpoints with statistically significant results. The primary endpoint was the global cognitive and functional scale, Clinical Dementia Rating Sum of Boxes (CDR-SB). Clarity AD evaluated lecanemab 10 mg/kg bi-weekly IV treatment of early Alzheimer's disease, which involved 1,795 patients (treatment group: 898, placebo group: 897). 95% of patients who completed the core study (18 months) chose to continue in the long-term extension study (LTE), with 478 patients still receiving treatment for four years. In the Clarity AD core clinical study, data showed LEQEMBI IV significantly slowed disease progression at 18 months (27% vs placebo), and the mean change from baseline between the lecanemab treated group and the placebo group after 18 months was -0.45 (P=0.00005) on the primary endpoint of CDR-SB global cognitive and functional scale.Since July 2020, the Phase 3 clinical study (AHEAD 3-45) for individuals with preclinical AD, meaning they are clinically normal and have intermediate or elevated levels of amyloid in their brains, is ongoing. AHEAD 3-45 is conducted as a public-private partnership between the Alzheimer's Clinical Trial Consortium that provides the infrastructure for academic clinical trials in AD and related dementias in the U.S, funded by the National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health, Eisai and Biogen. Since January 2022, the Tau NexGen clinical study for Dominantly Inherited AD (DIAD), that is conducted by Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU), led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, is ongoing and includes lecanemab as the backbone anti-amyloid therapy.About ProtofibrilsProtofibrils are thought to be the most toxic Aβ species that contribute to brain damage in AD and play a major role in the cognitive decline of this progressive and devastating disease. Protofibrils can cause neuronal and synaptic damage in the brain, which can subsequently adversely affect cognitive function through multiple mechanisms.2 The mechanism by which this occurs has been reported not only by increasing the formation of insoluble Aβ plaques, but also by directly damaging signaling between neurons and other cells. Transgene and NEC Report 100% Three-Year Disease-Free Survival with TG4050 and Publish Phase 1 Results in Nature Communications

Tokyo, Japan & Strasbourg, France, September 8, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Transgene (Euronext Paris: TNG), a biotech company that designs and develops virus-based immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer, and NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), a leader in IT, network and AI technologies, today report sustained 100% three-year disease-free survival (DFS) in patients treated with TG4050 in the Phase 1 part of a randomized Phase 1/2 trial evaluating TG4050, the first individualized neoantigen therapeutic vaccine (INTV) based on the myvac® platform, in patients with resected, locally advanced HPV-negative head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).The companies also announced the publication of the Phase 1 comprehensive clinical and translational data from the study in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Communications.Three-year follow-up data from the Phase 1 trial continue to demonstrate durable clinical outcomes in the adjuvant setting, with all 16 TG4050-treated patients remaining disease-free while three of 16 patients in the control arm experienced relapse after a median follow-up of 41 months. TG4050, encoding up to 30 patient-specific neoantigens, also continues to demonstrate a favorable safety profile with no unexpected safety findings. The peer-reviewed publication builds on the Phase 1 results first shared with the scientific community through a prepublication on medRxiv and presents comprehensive clinical and translational findings based on the study’s primary data cut-off, including detailed analyses of vaccine-induced immune responses. Together, the clinical and translational findings provide further evidence supporting TG4050 as a potential individualized immunotherapy for patients with head and neck cancer at high risk of relapse following surgery and (chemo)-radiotherapy."The publication of these data in Nature Communications, together with the sustained three-year disease-free survival observed with TG4050 monotherapy, represents an important milestone for Transgene," commented Alessandro Riva, MD, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Transgene. "Beyond the encouraging clinical outcomes, the sustained neoantigen-specific immune responses observed over time provide important evidence that our individualized therapeutic vaccine approach can generate durable anti-tumor immunity, strengthening our confidence in TG4050 as a potential new treatment option for head and neck cancer patients at high risk of relapse.""The latest three-year follow-up data further reinforce the ability of individualized neoantigen-based immunotherapy and the capacity of TG4050 to deliver continued clinical benefit for patients with head and neck cancer," said Masaki Kondo, Corporate Executive and Managing Director, Life Science Division of NEC Corporation. "These results additionally demonstrate that NEC’s AI-powered neoantigen prediction can identify highly relevant tumor targets capable of generating clinically meaningful immune responses. We are proud of our collaboration with Transgene and remain committed to advancing innovative technologies that help bring individualized cancer treatments to patients."The Phase 1 clinical and translational data published in Nature Communications demonstrate robust and persistent neoantigen-specific CD8+ T-cell responses consistent with the proposed vaccine’s mechanism of action. Vaccine-induced responses were detected in 73.3% of patients treated with TG4050, with a median of three responding neoantigens per responder. These responses were maintained throughout treatment and persisted for more than one year after the last vaccination, providing evidence of durable anti-tumor immunity."Robust and persistent CD8+ T-cell responses against patient-specific tumor neoantigens were observed following TG4050 vaccination, supporting the vaccine’s ability to generate a targeted anti-tumor immune response. These results further reinforce the potential of TG4050 as an individualized immunotherapy for patients with head and neck cancer at risk of recurrence for whom there is a major unmet need," added Prof. Christian Ottensmeier, MD, PhD, FRCP (University of Liverpool, La Jolla Institute for Immunology and Principal Investigator.TG4050 continues to be evaluated in the ongoing randomized Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT04183166) in patients with resected HNSCC.
