BACOLOD City has again recorded zero additional coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases based on the real-time data released by the City Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) on Saturday, April 16.Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of EOC, said it’s the fourth time this year that Bacolod logged zero cases of Covid-19 for a day.Sorongon said the figure was reflected in the record of the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas on Saturday. He added the city also logged zero cases on February 21, March 12 and 14.Sorongon noted that the first time Bacolod registered a zero Covid case was on March 10, 2021.As of yesterday, April 17, Bacolod City has 23 active Covid-19 cases, he added.Mayor Evelio Leonardia credited Bacolodnons for continued compliance to minimum health protocols despite the city’s de-escalation to Alert Level 1 status in terms of Covid-19 transmission.”We are now under the new normal. But then again, we must remain vigilant because Covid is still here. We have to live with it and adjust to it accordingly and cautiously,” Leonardia said in a statement. The mayor also credited the continued vaccination efforts of the EOC-TF and Covid-19 Vaccination Council (CoVac) as more residents receive booster shots as added protection against the virus.*
