THE transition team of Bacolod City mayor-elect Alfredo “Albee” Benitez is now coordinating with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Western Visayas to ensure a smooth turnover with the outgoing administration.Reelected Bacolod Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya, who leads Benitez’s transition team, said Thursday, May 19, that he already talked with DILG Regional Director Juan Jovian Engeniero to guide them in the transition.”We have an existing memorandum on what to do in this period (and) for us, we want to ensure a smooth, orderly and peaceful transition from the present administration to that of Benitez,” he said.He added that they are now gathering information and preparing some important things that they need to discuss during the transition period.Gasataya noted that they are also finalizing the list of members of their team and are looking for those who have knowledge and expertise on their respective fields to help the transition committee. He said the transition team will meet with their counterpart from the outgoing administration before June 30 this year.”We still have enough time and what is important for now is we are already preparing the ground works to meet with the outgoing administration team,” the congressman said.City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said their transition team will be led by outgoing Mayor Evelio Leonardia with the two appointive officials as focal persons including himself and City Administrator Edward Joseph Cuansing.”We are all working together (for the transition) and we are preparing all the things to be turned over to the incoming administration,” he said.He added they are also waiting for the schedule of the transition team created by the incoming administration so they can finalize it with the DILG.
