COMEBACKING senator Joseph Victor Ejercito reiterated his hope for the full implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law.He said that as principal author of UHC he wants to complete the implementation of the law, which is a 10 year-program and a work in progress.Ejercito was in Bacolod City on Tuesday, April 19, with vice presidential candidate Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III to meet with the members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in Negros Occidental. The senatorial aspirant, whose mother former San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez hails from Silay City, is banking on the support of Negrenses.“It is one of the most important pieces of legislation passed by the Congress because it seeks to give quality health care to all Filipinos without the financial burden,” Ejercito said.He stressed that his wisdom as the principal author is very much needed, especially in the implementation stage.Under the Universal Health Care Law, all Filipinos will be covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, with zero-balance billing for indigent patients.Ejercito said the smooth and complete implementation of the law, and improvement of health facilities all over the country are the main reasons for his decision to run again as senator in this year’s elections.“My comeback bid is tough,” he admitted, saying that he doesn’t have a big stage and a better built-in crowd. But despite the difficulties, he said that he has a mission and an obligation, and that is to complete and properly implement the Universal Health Care Law.Ejercito said he is grateful for the support of Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, NPC provincial chairman Isidro Zayco, mayors, and other officials.*
