“LET’S exercise our right to suffrage and follow the minimum health protocols.”This was the reminder of Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), as thousands of voters are expected to flock various polling precincts in Bacolod City today, May 9.Sorongon said the voters should wear face masks, bring hand sanitizer and observe proper physical distancing.“When we arrive in the polling centers, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will also assign personnel to check the body temperature and once you will have a high temperature or coronavirus disease (Covid-19) like symptoms, you will be brought to the isolation room but you can still vote,” he said.However, those who are confirmed Covid-19 patients at the quarantine centers cannot vote, he added.Sorongon noted that under Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act, people who are the subject of quarantine and isolation measures are bound to comply with such an order.“This (elections) is a history because we hold this event even though we are still in the pandemic so we should always follow the health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus… stay safe,” he also said.As of May 8, Bacolod City has a total of 12 active cases of Covid-19.*
